We can save the world

“Every living organism on this planet is currently impacted by the destructive forces of climate change.  Many of our greatest challenges – ecological disaster, social inequity, war, famine, and disease – are linked directly to the devastating impact of humanity on the environment.

The individuals, organizations, and governments who perpetuate both the destruction and distraction in our politics, media, business, and education systems should reflect on this quote by George Orwell:  “He is fiddling while Rome is burning, and, unlike the enormous majority of people who do this, fiddling with his face toward the flames.”

But there is good news: we can save the world, and the choice to do so is ours. Through individual, organized, corporate, and political actions, we can slow and even reverse this process, and save infinite lives. If we don’t act, we lose our collective home.”

A simple face i reflect on

“25 years ago, when I moved to my home in Vancouver, Canada, the highest ever recorded temperature was 28 degrees Celsius.  Today, we regularly get temperatures in the mid 30’s and just two years ago the temperature in my province rose to 49.6 C.  There is no ignoring science and there is no hiding from unlivable conditions in our near future.”
