About Session

Together with other solutions, the use of timber can contribute to a positive impact on the emissions of the building sector, but the inherent combustibility of the material is often perceived as a showstopper. This talk examines how the fire behaviour of timber shapes public perception, including the widespread attribution of higher fire risk to timber buildings. While such associations are often labelled a market barrier, this perceived risk does in fact not necessarily reflect a belief that timber buildings are unsafe.
